How will MachNumber help me? MachNumber is the fastest and easiest way for on-demand carriers to price, dispatch, manage and debrief their flying. With MachNumber, your entire organization is simultaneously connected to a single set of real-time data. We help you exercise far more control over your operation because all of your information is sensibly organized, carefully protected and readily accessible all in one place.
Do I have to be in the
office to use it?
How do I subscribe? Click on the "Subscribe" button below. Once subscribed, refer to our Quick-Start Guide (.pdf) or (html) to get your MachNumber intranet site configured to match the unique aspects and operating conditions of your carrier. Your credit card will be billed at the beginning of each month. Once subscribed, you can immediately add or edit your users, airplanes, customers and pilots. We have included a sample airplane, client and pilot to help you get familiar with the application.
Do you charge a fee for getting set up? Setup is free and there's an initial free period while you get configured and familiar with the application. There is no service commitment.
How can software work when I haven't installed anything? MachNumber is web-based software which means it runs entirely within an Internet Explorer web browser session. Instead of setting up our application on your computer, you access it from any Internet-connected computer. You don't have to maintain any software, worry about networking computers together or be concerned about losing your trip data. Your data is both protected and backed up by us each night. As we modify the program, updates are added automatically. You never have to spend any time upgrading your software because we do that for you. Internet software such as this is generally referred to as "Software as a Service" (SaaS).
Do you have a minimum subscription obligation? You may stop your subscription at any time. Because you pay in advance for each month's service, your site and subscription remain operational and in full effect through the end of the month in which you elect to cancel. Remember - because the remainder of the initial calendar month is free and there's no setup fee or subscription obligation, we feel that it's fair that there are no refunds either.
What’s a multi-user, multi-location application? "Multi-user, multi-location” means you, your employees and your customers interact in real-time with updated data over the internet. You can access your real-time data from your office, the road, an FBO, or in your home office after hours. Your business data is always updated and at your fingertips and, importantly, available in real-time to your employees and customers no matter where they are or when they log in.
Can customers and off-site employees access their data? Absolutely! You grant access to the users you choose, the application only displays the data you want them to see. By default, data access is restricted to trip information pertaining to the interaction your customers and pilots have had with specific trips. Your customers can view previously-operated trip billing detail right from their office, without calling you for the charges. Your pilots can retrieve pending trip sheets from satellite bases and FBO locations, or see historical trip operations data from home, the office or on the road. If you elect to create Regulator accounts, inspectors from your CHDO can inspect operational details from debriefed trips without ever coming onto your site. You can amend or even completely override the data access defaults we have established. You retain absolute control over who gets in and what they can see.
How are block times calculated in the itinerary applet? We use the great circle mileage and the economy cruising speed you included when you added each aircraft. We further refine that in two ways - we use an increasing percentage of that cruise speed as the leg distance becomes longer. We have also instituted floors based on the performance type of the aircraft (Jet, Turboprop, Piston). You can amend any of the default values we started you out with at any time.
In the itinerary part of Price and Dispatch, how are duty time calculations made? We hard coded a presumption that your pilots would be on premises and on-duty in pre-flight mode 30 minutes before the first leg's departure and would then need a fifteen minute interval to accomplish their post-flight duties after the last leg's block-in time. The estimate is provided as an aid only. Because different operators have different report/debrief criteria and because things change in actual operations, our duty time estimate should not be used by itself to determine prospective legality for the particular operation.
Who controls who sees my data? Your trip, customer, and user data is stored on our firewall-protected servers. MachNumber is fundamentally a security system where data is presented only to those authorized to see it. We designed MachNumber to give you absolute control over who accesses your trip data and what they can see and do. Once you sign up, only the people whom you explicitly invite in can see your trip information. Each of your users will have an exclusive login and password along with permissions set up and controlled by you.
What do you include in my monthly subscription? Basic Subscription $25 per month The Basic Subscription provides you with multi-user, multi-location access to Trip Pricing and Dispatch. You can, for example, take a customer call from your office or home, price and book the trip, and then call out a crew on the other side of the country who can then surf in to print up their charter trip sheet.
Full Subscription $79 per month A full subscription to MachNumber includes Trip Pricing and Dispatch/NOTAMS along with Charter Management, Debrief, and Reporting. This full subscription level provides you with an online repository of all of your trip information, an ability to prepare invoices and, an on-line Pilot Flight and Duty Time record-keeping system.
What about improvements and upgrades? Significant effort and expenditure has been invested into the product to keep it relevant and useful. We're very good at listening and regularly incorporate your requests into product upgrades. The product continually improves over time. We view MachNumber as an aviation co-op. It would be cost prohibitive for many smaller operators to create a feature-packed charter management application like this. With many subscribers, MachNumber operates like an aviation "co-op," making "big-carrier" IT tools available to smaller carriers. The large-fleet application providers have largely priced above the majority of the on-demand market segment.
How long do you store my data? Under basic subscription levels, we maintain your trip data for at least the previous two calendar years plus the current year-to-date. You can at any time, using the spreadsheet tool, download context sets of your data.
How many trip records, airplanes, pilots and customers can I put in my online database? MachNumber is fully scalable and will keep pace with the growth of your organization.
How do I control access? MachNumber has pre-defined user account types that include Administrator, Manager, Charter Coordinator, Customer, Pilot and Regulator. By default, each user account type has pre-defined sets of capabilities and access that can easily be customized by you to meet the specific needs of your organization. As you create user accounts, you assign logins and privilege levels. You can add, delete or modify any of your user accounts at any time. Changes take effect immediately.
How is the duty time calculated in the itinerary applet? The presumption is a thirty minute report at the start of the duty day plus a fifteen minute debrief interval at the end of the trip.
Do I have to be a rocket scientist to use it? MachNumber was specifically designed by experienced aviation professionals to be easy to learn and use. If you already know how to get your trips out the door, you'll be comfortable with MachNumber. Our intuitive interface makes it fast and easy to get started.
